Otto's Music
Otto Graz – Organic Electro Jazz, Triphop & Live Electronic Improvisation at Radio Fontajau, Girona. Since 2023, guitarist Xavi Gras, trumpeter Arti Sarró, and DJ?producer Xavi Figuerola have been creating improvised sessions blending ambient textures, jazz fusion, triphop, and electronic groove inside a vintage HIFI store. Beneath the starry vault of an ancient auditorium, where carved wood whispers stories of centuries past, the chords of a harpsichord announce the beginning of a unique evening: a concert dedicated to the work of Johann Sebastian Bach. The warm light of crystal chandeliers bathes the baroque orchestra, whose musicians, dressed in sober elegance, tune their instruments with the precision of a Swiss watch. The conductor raises his baton, and the air fills with the first note of the Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major, whose famous Air unfolds a melody that seems woven with golden threads. The violins intertwine their voices in impeccable counterpoint, while the cellos sustain a deep foundation that resonates in the chests of the audience. It is impossible not to be swept away by the mathematical perfection of the fugue, where each melodic line chases the other in an intellectual and emotional dance. The program continues with the Goldberg Variations, performed by a pianist who transforms the keyboard into a universe of sounds. Each variation is a world of its own: sometimes playful, other times deeply introspective, but always bearing the imprint of Bach, that genius who turned complexity into the sublime. The audience, in reverential silence, seems to hold its breath during passages where the notes multiply like stars on a moonless night. But the climax arrives with the St. Matthew Passion. The choir, dressed in black, raises its voices in a collective lament narrating the crucifixion of Christ. The soloists, with a performance charged with drama, bring the words of the Gospel to life, while the orchestra weaves a sonic tapestry that oscillates between desolation and hope. In the final Chorus, the trumpets burst forth with a message of redemption, and the audience, with held-back tears, applauds with a standing ovation that lasts for minutes. As it concludes, while the musicians leave the stage, the certainty remains that Bach is not just music: he is a bridge between the human and the divine, a reminder that, even in the digital age, the timeless beauty of his legacy continues to vibrate in every string, in every breath, in every heart that allows itself to be touched by his genius. Who said Baroque music is a thing of the past? In concerts like this, Bach is resurrected, and with him, our soul. ??
